Abstract
The scientific and technological progress of the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries led to the digitalization of many production units and rapidly entered the sphere of culture and the humanities. Today, we are already talking about information, methodology, and other similar technologies, including those in the field of education.
Several researchers have explored the influence of interactive technologies on English grammar acquisition among high school students (Celik, B. & Kara, S., Ghaithi, A. & Behforouz, B). They have extensively studied the impact of technology in language learning, focusing on how digital tools can enhance grammar acquisition and overall language competence. Some works suggest that interactive activities can increase engagement and retention of grammatical structures. The scientists have examined how interactive technologies, such as online platforms and multimedia tools and chatbox, affect language learning. Their researches indicate that technology can personalize grammar instruction, providing immediate feedback and practice that benefits high school students.
The modern educational space reflects a new educational paradigm based on an individual approach and differentiation of learning, diversity and alternative educational systems, as well as the ability to anticipate and adapt to changes in the socio-economic environment, taking into account the interests and abilities of students. According to this paradigm, education should contribute to the comprehensive development of a person, be based on the diagnosis of personal growth and aim to create a culture of human dignity.
Interactive technologies in education are becoming an important tool for implementing the latest learning principles. They facilitate active interaction between students and teachers and develop skills of cooperation, critical thinking, and independent solution-finding. As far as we are concerned interactive methods and tools, such as online platforms, game elements, and collaborative projects make the educational process more flexible and adaptive. It meets the needs of modern society and supports personal development in the face of constant change.
The role of interactive technologies in the process of developing English grammar competence in 11th-grade students is particularly important. The use of interactive methods such as online simulators, language simulations, interactive grammar exercises and team projects enables high school students to use grammar structures in real-life communication situations. This increases their motivation and contributes to a deeper understanding of grammar rules, the development of linguistic intuition and the ability to correct their mistakes, which is essential for confident English level of school leavers.
Mobile apps such as Duolingo, Quizlet, or Kahoot! allow students to practice grammar at any time. In Kahoot!, teachers can create interactive quizzes on grammar topics where students select the correct answers in a competitive manner. This approach creates a feeling of game, helps to reinforce knowledge, and makes learning accessible outside the classroom.
Platforms such as Edmodo or Google Classroom allow you to integrate grammar exercises with elements of games and interactive tasks. For example, a teacher can conduct online grammar quests where students complete the following tasks, collect ‘points’ or gain ‘levels’ for completing exercises correctly. This form of learning promotes engagement and critical thinking and allows students to revise the material at home.
Using interactive whiteboards such as SMART Boards helps to conduct group language games in the classroom where students actively interact with each other. For example, the Wheel of Grammar game, where students take turns choosing a grammar task displayed on the board, motivates them to pay attention and compete for the correct answers. We believe that this approach helps create an atmosphere of cooperation and interest by focusing on specific grammar topics.
One interactive technology I would use in English grammar lessons is Kahoot!. This platform allows teachers to create engaging grammar quizzes and games that students can participate in live using their devices. With Kahoot!, students receive immediate feedback on their answers, which helps reinforce correct grammatical structures and encourages them to pay attention to detail. The competitive element of Kahoot! also adds excitement to the learning process, motivating students to actively engage and retain grammar rules.
To sum up, interactive technologies in teaching English grammar to 11th-grade students significantly increase the quality of the learning process. Interactive applications, online platforms and game-based learning methods make learning grammar rules interesting, accessible and adapted to the individual needs of each student. Such technologies help students develop critical thinking, independent learning and communication skills, motivating them to be more active in learning. Thanks to interactive tools, grammar ceases to be just a set of rules and becomes a living tool that students learn to use in practical situations, preparing them for real-life communication in English and future life challenges.
