Abstract

Teaching online languages is becoming a norm and a trend for language teaching. It is becoming a new job, for many language teachers over the Globe, and for which still, there is no university, that does prepare them for that role. They are left online, with limited training by platforms about “how to teach online?”, and they are mostly left behind by support and on their own (Kerla, 2020) or unite and create an initiative to overcome those problems. In the literature, this indicative is understood as social innovation, which is understand by Vinals & Rodriguez (2013), as a new idea or indicatives that make it possible to meet our society’s challenges in areas such as the environment, education, employment, culture, health, economic development, to achieve social goals, on their own or unite and create an initiative to overcome those problems.

Active citizens can contribute to social problems solving through different initiatives and organization and projects that serve education and social goals (Klimczuk, Butkeviciene, Kerla, 2022), but also opening an area for the development of social innovations as production of new knowledge - techne (Rahimić Ramić, 2024) using all available modern technique and technology. In this manner, citizens are participating the modern world into which they have been thrown (Heidegger, 1985).

In this paper, it will be analyzed the sample of UONEDU organization (UONEDU, 2017-2019, 2023), that serves the model of continuous education for online language teacher and their training programs for language teaching and learning. By qualitative analysis, we identify that UONEDU organization itself has 3 main anchors:

1) create a bridge from formal education to continuing education of all members;

2) train teachers to teach their teaching projects online (seminars, webinars, courses);

3) connect educators, encourage them to innovate, science and practical solutions, as well as involvement in academic contributions in the field of distance education and improvement of formal education. The results are bringing on the stage a variety of education programs that give the teachers a chance to continue education and support teachers to integrate in online environment, contribute and participate the modern world.
